Peter Abruzzo brings more than 35 years of executive leadership experience across retail, financial services, and healthcare industries. A seasoned CEO and growth strategist, Peter has built, scaled, and successfully exited businesses at the highest levels of American commerce — including playing a central role in the $11 billion sale of May Company to Federated Department Stores, the largest retail transaction in U.S. history at the time.

Peter began his career as CEO of Modern Tuxedo, transforming a single-location operation into one of the top-grossing formalwear companies in the country. Following its sale to May Company, he consulted to the executive team as the company scaled to more than 550 formalwear locations and 300 David’s Bridal stores nationwide. He subsequently led Men’s Wearhouse’s formalwear division, driving revenue from $206 million to $426 million over three years.

Most recently, Peter served as President of Renew Smiles, where he grew monthly revenue from $800,000 to $3.1 million within his first 90 days and facilitated an $80 million capital raise to expand the business to more than 40 locations nationwide.

In affiliation with Dave Aronberg Law, Peter lends his expertise to matters intersecting business strategy, commercial litigation support, and the firm’s Racing Law practice. A thoroughbred racing owner and competitor since 1992, Peter has competed at the sport’s highest levels — including a Preakness entry in 2002, a Kentucky Derby entry in 2006, and a Kentucky Oaks winner in 2010.

His business acumen extends into financial services, where he served as Founding Board Member of Village Bank/Northwest Community Bank, growing share value from $12.50 to $80 within 36 months before negotiating its sale to Wintrust. He later transformed Gateway Capital’s enterprise value from $4 million to over $40 million in a single year through a strategic overhaul that included partnering with the engineers behind NASDAQ to build a direct-to-CME trading portal.
